Photographic Exhibition Call Outs - Round Up

There’s lots of open calls for photographic exhibitions/projects currently being advertised. Below is just a sample of what’s on offer, you should find something here no matter what your skill level or experience. Just do it!

4th Singapore International Photography Festival – SIPF 2014

The deadline for this is Monday, so soon! They are looking for submissions from photographers worldwide. In addition to the open call, there is a themed call for a showcase exhibition “An Ocean of Possibilities”.

With no specific genre, theme, subject, the Open Call is a survey on the trend, the concern, the approach, the practice, the idea, the concept employed by the photographers worldwide.

The 4th SIPF curators – Dr Charles Merewether, Dr Adele Tan, Tay Kay Chin, and Alexander Supartono will select 40 photographers from the submissions. Based on exhibition sites, each curator will critically select the works, and curate the works based on theme or subject matters, or g approaches, or even by geographical region.

Across oceans, Noorderlicht and SIPF collaborate on a themed open call titled “An Ocean of Possibilities”. With this special open call, we seek to create wider audience, and likewise to pose a good challenge for the practicing professionals The selected works made by both festivals will simultaneously exhibit in The Netherlands and Singapore in 2014. We hope this collaboration will establish a deeper discussion on photography across two continents, and to create possible opportunities for participating photographers.

Deadline: March 31, 2014

Photoworks: Open call for photographic essays

This looks like quite a nice opportunity, the deadline is soon – 14 April 2014. Photoworks have partnering FotoDocument and BioRegional to commission ten public space photo essays launching during Brighton Photo Biennial 2014 and to remain in situ for ten months.

Each of the ten essays will be themed on one of the principles of One Planet Living and works will be installed in a corresponding key public space in Brighton & Hove. The exhibitions will collectively form an ‘arts story trail’ around the city and be accompanied by a map and literature to illustrate the route and significance.

Submissions are welcomed from established and emerging photographers who are not in full time education. To apply, photographers must be at least 18 years old, live in the UK and have a valid UK bank account.

Each selected photographer will receive a fee of £2.5k to include travel and subsistence. Further funds are available to cover printing and installation costs.
