DR.ME: Choice Cuts at HOME, Manchester

Wanted to flag this new exhibition up as the images are just terrific. This project comes from DR.ME, a design/illustration/art etc. collaboration between Ryan Doyle (DR) and Mark Edwards (ME) , that will be gracing the walls of HOME’s Granada Foundation Gallery from Friday 11 September till Sunday 8 November. The collages are taken from their recent year-long project 365 Days of Collage and draws upon advertising ephemera, travel supplements, ethnographic magazines and material from thrift stores, a lot of it from Paramount Books in Manchester which has been a fixture near the bus station since 1965.

The duo repurpose the found images; surfers now perform to packed theatre audiences, girls appear to cross into a half tropical holiday alternaverse and the Egyptian pyramids suddenly get a bubblegum pink interference. Images clash and create new narratives, patterns and realities.

On DR.ME’s website you can also see the short film they we’re invited to make by Manchester International Festival, mashing up the three previous festivals footage. Click here.
